Jharkhand CM Soren Urges Action Plan for Rain-Deficit Agriculture

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has raised concerns about the state's rain deficit and its adverse effects on agriculture. On Friday, he directed officials to compile a report on the issue to present to the Centre for seeking financial assistance.

Presiding over a high-level meeting, Soren emphasized timely preparations to provide relief to affected farmers. He instructed officials to devise a strategy to cope with continued low rainfall and expedite the progress of irrigation projects.

The CM stressed the importance of remaining vigilant, especially in monitoring rainfall and crop sowing activities across districts. He highlighted that the weak monsoon is directly impacting paddy and other crops, affecting numerous farmers. Soren also mentioned that the state had declared multiple blocks as drought-hit in 2022 and 2023, reflecting the severity of the issue.
