Heavy rainfall has led to significant waterlogging in Gujarat's Porbandar district, authorities reported. District Collector KD Lakhani confirmed there have been no casualties due to the incessant rain.
"Due to the incessant rainfall in the last few days in Porbandar district, it has caused waterlogging in several areas of the city. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported. We have deployed dewatering pumps and received additional support from the state government," Lakhani stated on Monday. Measures are now being taken to unblock drainage systems.
Meanwhile, the heavy rains have also disrupted life in Surat, resulting in severe waterlogging on roads and stranding vehicles. Similar issues have been experienced in Porbandar, Junagadh, and Devbhumi Dwarka, causing traffic delays and road closures.
A priest highlighted that despite the rains stopping for the past 18 hours, some areas, including temples, remain flooded. "Even the famous Rokadiya Hanuman temple is under one-foot of water. However, the rains have not deterred worshippers from visiting for darshan," he said.
