Navy Chief to Assess Damage After INS Brahmaputra Fire

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi is set to visit Mumbai following a severe fire aboard the INS Brahmaputra, which has caused the ship to list significantly. One sailor is currently missing. An inquiry into the incident has been ordered.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi is scheduled to visit Mumbai today to evaluate the aftermath of a fire incident that severely damaged the warship INS Brahmaputra.

On July 21, a fire broke out aboard the INS Brahmaputra, a multi-role frigate, while it was undergoing refit. The fire was brought under control by the ship's crew alongside firefighters from Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, and nearby ships, but the vessel has since listed significantly to one side and is currently resting on its berth. All personnel have been accounted for except one junior sailor, who remains missing as search efforts continue.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh received a briefing from Admiral Tripathi regarding the damages and has directed appropriate actions. An inquiry into the incident has been launched.
