Finance Minister Allocates 2.66 Lakh Crore for Rural Development

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an allocation of Rs. 2.66 lakh crore for rural development, including infrastructure, during the Budget for 2024-25. She also mentioned the construction of three crore houses under PM Awas Yojana and the launch of phase 4 of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana for better rural connectivity.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday announced a significant allocation of Rs. 2.66 lakh crore for rural development, inclusive of rural infrastructure projects.

Additionally, the minister revealed plans to construct three crore new houses under the PM Awas Yojana in both rural and urban areas.

During her presentation of the 2024-25 Budget in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman stated that phase four of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) will be launched to provide all-weather connectivity to 25,000 rural habitations that are now eligible due to population increases.
