Telangana's Discontent with Union Budget: A Cry for Fair Allocation

BRS Working President K T Rama Rao expressed disappointment over the Union Budget, alleging that Telangana received no benefits. Despite a budget exceeding Rs 48 lakh crores, major allocations were made only to a few states. He emphasized the neglect of requests made by Telangana and criticized the lack of mentioned promises in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

BRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Tuesday expressed his disappointment with the Union Budget, criticizing the lack of allocation to Telangana. Despite a budget of over Rs 48 lakh crores, he noted that only a few states received major benefits.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Budget for 2024-25, marking the first Budget of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's third term. Rao highlighted the BJP and Congress's equal win of eight Lok Sabha seats each in Telangana and questioned the outcomes of allocating 16 seats to national parties.

Rao underscored that despite requests for national status on irrigation projects and the establishment of central institutes, the Centre failed to respond. He remarked that Telangana's people should note the funds allocated to states like Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, while Telangana repeatedly received no mention in the Budget.
