Jammu Officials Gear Up for Independence Day Celebrations

Divisional Commissioner Jammu and ADGP reviewed the preparations for the Independence Day celebrations in Jammu Division. Officials discussed various arrangements, including security, cultural activities, and public participation, ensuring a smooth execution of the event.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, along with Additional Director General of Police Jammu, Anand Jain, conducted a comprehensive review of preparations for the Independence Day celebrations across the Jammu Division. The meeting saw participation from Commissioner of JMC, MD JPDCL, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs of respective districts, Heads of Departments, and representatives from various line departments, executive agencies, BSF, CRPF, and NCC.

The Div Com assessed the extensive arrangements being made for the divisional-level function scheduled to be held at MA Stadium in Jammu. Detailed plans for the event were presented by the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, highlighting the various committees constituted to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. The Div Com emphasized the importance of timely rehearsals for contingents and cultural performances, and instructed relevant departments to undertake whitewashing, decoration, and repair works at the venue.

In-depth discussions were held regarding barricading, seating arrangements, parking facilities, traffic regulation, and other essential logistics. Instructions were issued for the setup of a joint control room with representatives from line departments, and the designation of nodal officers to facilitate seamless execution of responsibilities. Directions were also given to the Traffic Department for publicizing designated parking spots and to RTC for arranging buses to ferry participants and the public. Deputy Commissioners were urged to ensure national flag hoisting on all government buildings and schools, and to visit the families of freedom fighters and martyrs. Additionally, a Swacchtta Pakhwara was scheduled from August 1 to 14.
