Delhi Traffic Disrupted by Sever Waterlogging Amid Record Rainfall

Delhi faces severe traffic interruptions on Mahatma Gandhi Marg due to waterlogging at Nigam Bodh Ghat, with diversions at Chandgi Ram Akhara. The city witnessed 108 mm of rain by Wednesday morning, marking record rainfall in June. Authorities alert Noida residents as Yamuna River water levels rise.

Delhi's traffic came to a standstill on Mahatma Gandhi Marg as severe waterlogging at Nigam Bodh Ghat prompted the Delhi Traffic Police to issue an advisory on Wednesday. Diversions were implemented from Chandgi Ram Akhara to manage the situation.

Across the city, multiple areas including Zakhira underpass, NH-24 highway, Moti Bagh, Tughlaq road, Akshardham flyover, and RK Puram faced heavy waterlogging. The national capital recorded 108 mm of heavy rain till Wednesday morning, following a sudden downpour earlier this week.

June saw the highest rainfall in 88 years, with 228 mm recorded in just one day. The Yamuna River's water levels surged, prompting an alert to Noida villagers along the riverbanks, who experienced severe flooding last monsoon.

Meanwhile, the IMD issued an orange alert in Himachal Pradesh predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms. Recent weather conditions in Himachal Pradesh disrupted 70 roads, 51 water supply schemes, and 84 electricity supply schemes.
