In a decisive move under its zero-tolerance policy against narco-terror, the Jammu and Kashmir government has terminated four employees from service, according to sources. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha exercised Article 311 of the Indian Constitution to remove Police Constables Mushtaq Ahmad Pir and Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, along with Baazil Ahmad Mir and Mohd Zaid Shah from their positions. Investigations revealed their involvement in drug trafficking and connections with terror outfits.

Sources highlighted Mushtaq Ahmad Pir's extensive misuse of his police role to facilitate narcotics transportation, establishing a vast network of drug peddlers while evading law enforcement. His connections with Pakistani smugglers allowed him to run a drug cartel in North Kashmir. The Kupwara-Handwara area was particularly affected, as Pir exploited young individuals to perpetuate the drug trade.

Similarly, Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, recruited in 2002, was involved with the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), aiding in the transportation of arms and ammunition. Baazil Ahmad Mir, a school employee, and Mohd Zaid Shah, a village worker, were also implicated in drug trafficking, with Shah using his public image to discreetly manage a narco-terror syndicate. The relentless efforts of law enforcement have thwarted significant threats, ensuring the ongoing development initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
