IGP Kashmir Leads Security Review for Safe Amarnath Yatra

Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, conducted a Joint Security Review Meeting at Nunwan Base Camp, Pahalgam, urging all security agencies to work in unison to secure the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

In the midst of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, convened a Joint Security Review Meeting at Nunwan Base Camp, Pahalgam. The IGP directed all security agencies to work in close coordination to ensure a safe and secure pilgrimage.

Emphasizing the importance of collective effort and coordination, Birdi highlighted the need to prevent potential threats, address emerging challenges, and ensure the safety of pilgrims. During the meeting, a thorough review of the current security scenario was conducted, and measures to ensure a secure environment for Yatris, tourists, and locals were discussed.

The meeting also focused on strategies to counter terrorism and maintain law and order in the Pahalgam axis. It was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, including police officers, Army, CAPF forces, NDRF, SDRF, MRT, Base Camp directors, security, traffic, fire services, and intelligence agencies.

The review highlighted the collective commitment of all stakeholders towards ensuring the safety and security of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. This year's yatra, which began on June 29, will conclude on August 19, lasting a total of 52 days. Devotees of Lord Shiva undertake this challenging annual pilgrimage to the holy cave located in the Kashmir Himalayas.
