The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has arrested the ninth accused under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in relation to the 2022 paper leak scandal of Rajasthan's senior teacher 2nd-grade competitive examination. Identified as Anita Kumari alias Anita Meena, she was apprehended on Wednesday and presented before the Special Court (PMLA), Jaipur. She has been sent to ED custody for two days, according to an official statement on Thursday.

This investigation originated from FIRs lodged by Rajasthan Police under multiple IPC sections against Babulal Katara, Anil Kumar Meena alias Sher Singh Meena, and others. Findings indicate that Anil Kumar Meena, in collaboration with other suspects, leaked the examination paper and distributed it to candidates in return for illicit money.

The probe further revealed that Anita Kumari, a close associate of Anil Kumar Meena, regularly communicated with him during the period of the crime. She played a significant role in generating and handling the Proceeds of Crime (PoC), using the funds to purchase immovable property in her name. Previous ED raids at 22 locations on June 5 and October 13 last year yielded incriminating documents and digital evidence.

Additionally, ED has provisionally attached movable and immovable properties worth approximately Rs 3.11 crore belonging to Babulal Katara, Anil Meena, and others as per a Provisional Attachment Order dated August 18, 2023. So far, eight individuals, including Babulal Katara and Anil Kumar Meena, have been arrested in connection with this case.

A Prosecution Complaint and a Supplementary Prosecution Complaint have been filed against the eight accused before the Special Court (PMLA), Jaipur, which has acknowledged the charges. Further investigation is ongoing.
