Delhi Welcomes Heavy Rains, Bringing Respite from Humid Weather

In a notable weather development, the national capital welcomed heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms early Friday, providing much-needed relief from the persistently humid conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) took to X to inform the public that Delhi and the surrounding NCR region are likely to see more rain within the next two hours.
'Light rainfall or drizzle is very likely to occur at a few locations across Delhi and NCR, including Narela, Alipur, Badli, Pitampura, Punjabi Bagh, and other areas,' the IMD noted. Additional regions such as Seemapuri, Dilshad Garden, and Patel Nagar are also forecasted to experience light to moderate rainfall.
Expanding on the broader weather outlook, the IMD stated that northern parts of India are set to receive moderate rainfall throughout the week. 'Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is expected in regions including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan,' the department reported. June's rainfall in Delhi was notably historic, with the city witnessing its highest precipitation in 88 years.
