Government Pledges Comprehensive Dal Procurement for Farmers

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced in Rajya Sabha that the government will procure the entire production of tur, urad, and masur dal from farmers via the e-Samridhi platform. Highlighting substantial MSP purchases under the NDA government, Chouhan criticized the opposition for ignoring the Swaminathan committee recommendations. DMK's M Shanmugam urged the inclusion of tea and coffee under MSP.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced in the Rajya Sabha that the government will procure all tur, urad, and masur dal produced by farmers through the e-Samridhi platform, which requires farmers to register for procurement.

Chouhan emphasized the government's commitment to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme, noting significantly higher procurements under the current NDA government compared to the previous UPA government. He accused the opposition of ignoring the Swaminathan committee's recommendations for offering 50% profit on production costs to farmers.

DMK's M Shanmugam called for tea and coffee growers to be included under MSP. While Chouhan acknowledged the issue, he pointed out that these crops fall under the commerce and industry minister's purview, currently held by Piyush Goyal. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar supported further discussions on the matter in the next session.
