Government Reviews Budget Allocations for Women-Led Development

The Ministry of Women and Child Development hosted a post-budget webinar highlighting government initiatives and budget allocations for enhancing women's participation in the workforce. The event featured speeches from officials and insights on best practices from various states.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development conducted a post-budget webinar on Friday to disseminate information about policy initiatives aimed at enhancing women's workforce participation and budgetary allocations for Women-led Development. The event was held at Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, delivered the inaugural address, underscoring the Government's commitment to women-led development. She highlighted that, under the Prime Minister's leadership, efforts are focused on ensuring women's physical and mental well-being, skill enhancement, income opportunities, and respect, enabling self-reliance. The initiative also aims to offer quality childcare facilities in a safe environment for children's nutrition, health, and cognitive development, supporting working mothers in their careers.

For the financial year 2024-25, Rs 3.3 lakh crore has been allocated by various Ministries of the Central government for women's welfare and empowerment. These funds are intended to boost efforts to increase women's workplace participation, ensure their safety, and establish working women's hostels and creches. The webinar included discussions by the Secretary of the Ministry of WCD and representatives from UN Women and the World Bank on the key features of the Union Budget concerning women. State governments shared successful practices and innovative approaches for providing hostel and creche facilities to working women.

The webinar was widely attended by stakeholders from all States and Union Territories. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment nationwide for women-led development.
