In a significant security operation, Indian Army troops thwarted an attack by the Pakistan Border Action Team (BAT) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. One Pakistani terrorist was killed during the encounter.
The assault, which resulted in the injury of four Indian soldiers, including a Major, also claimed the life of an Indian Army soldier. According to Defence sources, the BAT team is suspected to comprise regular Pakistan Army troops and SSG commandos working closely with terrorist organizations.
All injured personnel were swiftly evacuated from the scene, as confirmed by Defence officials. In a statement, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army reported an exchange of fire with unidentified personnel at a forward post in the Kamkari, Macchal Sector, where two Indian soldiers sustained injuries.
The last few months have seen a surge in terror activities in the Jammu region, including a recent attack on an army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur. Further details on the latest incident are awaited.
