Two Repeat Offenders Arrested in Ujjain After Violent Police Encounter

Two criminals with prior arrests for looting were apprehended in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, after attacking a constable and engaging in a police encounter. Identified as Mahesh Lodhi and Rahul Bose, these suspects were previously jailed for similar offenses. A manhunt is ongoing for a third suspect, Shiv.

Two men, Mahesh Lodhi (26) and Rahul Bose (20), notorious for their criminal history, were arrested in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, following a Friday night police encounter, authorities reported on Saturday. The duo has a history of arrests linked to looting and other criminal activities, having served jail time in 2017 and 2020.

The violent altercation began when constables Vikram and Akash stopped them for questioning regarding a recent looting incident in the Ghatiya police station area on Thursday night. During the interaction, one of the suspects attacked and stabbed constable Akash, who was subsequently hospitalized but is now out of danger, according to Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma.

On Friday night, police received a tip-off about the suspects' whereabouts in the Sawara Khedi area. In the ensuing chase, Mahesh Lodhi opened fire on the police, prompting a retaliatory shot that injured Lodhi. Both suspects fell off their bike, sustained injuries, and were taken to the hospital. A third suspect, Shiv, remains at large with efforts underway to apprehend him, confirmed SP Sharma.
