Four Bangladeshi women were apprehended at Agartala railway station for allegedly crossing the Indo-Bangla border illegally, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP). An Indian tout was also detained for facilitating their illegal entry.
The arrested women have been identified as Meem Sultana (23), Rubaiya Sultana alias Asha (20), Ritu Begam (28), and Jyoti Khatun (20), all residents of Bangladesh. The tout, Mohammed Kashem Miah (24), is a resident of Sepahijala, Tripura. The GRP revealed that the women had entered India illegally from Bangladesh and intended to travel to cities like Ahmedabad and Pune.
The GRP registered a case at the Agartala Police Station, and the accused are set to be presented in court. Authorities are intensifying their investigations to uncover the wider network involved in this illegal immigration operation.
