Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of three civil services aspirants, caused by waterlogging in the basement of a coaching centre in the city. Saxena described the incident as both 'unfortunate and unacceptable,' stressing that such occurrences should not happen in India's capital.

He has instructed the Divisional Commissioner to submit a detailed report on the tragic event by Tuesday. 'This is unpardonable, and such issues can no longer be overlooked. I have asked for a report covering every aspect of the incident,' Saxena stated in his social media post.

Saxena emphasized that those responsible for the lives lost will be held accountable. 'While nothing can replace the young lives lost due to administrative negligence and criminal misconduct by those operating the coaching institutions, those responsible will be held accountable,' he added.

The incident occurred on Saturday in Delhi's Old Rajender Nagar, where three UPSC aspirants died in the basement of a popular IAS coaching institute due to waterlogging. Delhi police have arrested the centre's owner and coordinator in connection with the deaths.

The deceased were identified as Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Nivin Dalwin from Kerala. Police have informed the families and sent the bodies to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for autopsies.

Meanwhile, AAP MP Swati Maliwal expressed outrage over the delayed response from government officials, calling for the deaths to be labeled as 'murder.' Maliwal demanded an FIR against the responsible officials, criticizing the lack of immediate action.
