Tripura's Jishnu Dev Varma Appointed Governor of Telangana

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha congratulated Jishnu Dev Varma, former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, on his appointment as Governor of Telangana by President Droupadi Murmu. New governors were also appointed in nine other states, including Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, and Maharashtra.

In a significant political development, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha congratulated former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on his new appointment as Governor of Telangana. Chief Minister Saha expressed his congratulations via a social media post on platform X, acknowledging Dev Varma's distinguished new role.

The post also extended thanks to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their decision. Jishnu Dev Varma, a senior leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), served as Tripura's Deputy Chief Minister before this new appointment.

On July 28, President Murmu announced the appointment of new governors across nine states. Among these, former Rajya Sabha MP Om Prakash Mathur was appointed Governor of Sikkim. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam, now also serves as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Other notable appointments included Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde as Governor of Rajasthan, Santosh Kumar Gangwar as Governor of Jharkhand, and Ramen Deka as Governor of Chhattisgarh.

Furthermore, CH Vijayashankar was named Governor of Meghalaya, while C.P. Radhakrishnan, previously Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, took on the role of Governor of Maharashtra. Lakshman Prasad Acharya, previously Governor of Sikkim, was appointed Governor of Assam with additional responsibilities for Manipur. (ANI)
