Former Olympian and BJP leader Rajyavardhan Rathore has celebrated Manu Bhaker's remarkable performance at the Paris Olympics 2024, calling it a boost for Indian athletes' morale. Bhaker secured a medal on the second day of the games, an achievement Rathore described as significant. He extended his heartiest congratulations to Bhaker and her family.

Rathore highlighted the importance of this early success, attributing it to the power of women athletes. 'Our daughters have initiated these Olympics. Women Power has initiated this,' he said. Rathore also encouraged Bhaker to keep up the momentum and wished the entire Indian team luck in the upcoming events. He expressed his pride in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also lauded Bhaker's victory. Mann congratulated her for making the country proud by winning the bronze in the 10m air pistol shooting competition. PM Modi called the win a historic achievement, as Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting at the Olympics. The 22-year-old scored 221.7 points to claim India's first medal at the ongoing mega event, marking a significant comeback from her Tokyo Olympics setback. South Korea's Ye Jin won gold with an Olympic record of 243.2 points, while Kim Yeji claimed silver with 241.3 points.
