Northeast Frontier Railway RPF Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Migrants

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has apprehended 47 illegal migrants and 5 Indian agents in June 2024. Up to July 23, 41 migrants were detained, with notable arrests at Agartala, Badarpur, and New Jalpaiguri stations, highlighting RPF's vigilance in combating illegal immigration.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has intensified its crackdown on illegal migrants, resulting in the apprehension of 47 illegal migrants and 5 Indian agents across various stations in June 2024. According to Sabyasachi De, CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway, the RPF continued their efforts into July, detaining 41 illegal migrants by the 23rd of the month.

On July 2, an RPF team at Agartala Railway Station conducted a routine drive, uncovering 11 individuals of doubtful nationality. The group, composed of 9 females and 2 males, failed to provide valid documents and later confessed to entering India illegally from Bangladesh. In a separate incident on July 23, four male Bangladeshi nationals were detained at Agartala station, with plans to travel to Kolkata by train. All detained individuals were handed over to the Government Railway Police for further legal action.

Additional detentions occurred at Badarpur and New Jalpaiguri stations during regular RPF checks. The RPF staff, known for their vigilance, continue to monitor stations and trains closely to prevent illegal migration and apprehend suspected individuals, including Rohingyas and other unauthorized entrants.
