A 28-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a speeding luxury car in Mumbai, police reported. The victim, Vinod Lad, passed away seven days after the accident. The driver, Kiran Indulkar, has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him.
The incident occurred on July 20 on Abdul Gaffar Khan Road near the Worli Sea Link, and Lad died during treatment on July 27. This tragic event follows a similar hit-and-run incident earlier in July, where a speeding luxury car struck a scooter on Dr Annie Besant Road, killing a 45-year-old woman.
On July 7, a luxury car crashed into a bike ridden by a couple in Worli, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa (45), a resident of Worli Koliwada. Her husband sustained injuries and received hospital treatment. "A BMW car ran over two people riding a bike. The woman died in this incident, and the other person was injured," stated the Mumbai Police.
The accused in the earlier hit-and-run, Mihir Shah, was presented before the Sewri court on July 16 and sent to judicial custody for 14 days, until July 30. The police had requested further custody, but the court denied the plea.
During the investigation, Shah refused to answer critical questions regarding his actions and whereabouts post-crime. He did not disclose why he fled the scene, where he disposed of his car's number plate, or the identities of those who allegedly harbored him while he was on the run. (ANI)
