Two Kanwariyas lost their lives and five others were left injured after a container truck collided with their tractor-trolley in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district early Monday morning, officials confirmed.

The accident took place near Deori village on National Highway 44, around 5 am, under the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station, the police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Arvind Thakur reported to ANI that the collision caused the tractor-trolley to overturn. The incident prompted surviving Kanwariyas to block the highway in protest. Police quickly intervened to manage the blockade and restore traffic flow.

The driver of the container truck has been detained and is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries, according to officials.
