Tripura's Jishnu Dev Varma Appointed as Telangana Governor

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed pride in the appointment of Jishnu Dev Varma, former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, as the Governor of Telangana. This marks the first time a person from Tripura has been nominated as a Governor since India's independence.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha met Jishnu Dev Varma, the newly appointed Governor of Telangana and former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, on Monday. Saha noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu had honored the people of Tripura by nominating Varma for the position.

Sharing a photo on his social media platform X, Saha said, "Today, I met and greeted the former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shri Jishnu Dev Varma on his appointment as the Governor of Telangana. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have honored the people of Tripura by nominating Dev Varma for the position of Governor."

Saha also remarked, "He is the first person from Tripura to be nominated as Governor of any state since independence. May Mata Tripura Sundari bless him with success in all his future endeavors." A day earlier, Saha had extended his congratulations to Varma on X.

Jishnu Dev Varma, a senior leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), served as Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura before his recent appointment. On July 28, President Murmu appointed new governors in nine states, including Varma for Telangana.

Other appointments included Om Prakash Mathur as Governor of Sikkim, Gulab Chand Kataria as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde for Rajasthan, Santosh Kumar Gangwar for Jharkhand, Ramen Deka for Chhattisgarh, and CH Vijayashankar for Meghalaya. Additionally, C.P. Radhakrishnan has been appointed Governor of Maharashtra, and Lakshman Prasad Acharya as Governor of Assam with additional charge of Manipur.
