Ukraine Ensures Oil Transit Amid Sanctions Dispute with Slovakia

Deputy Ukrainian Energy Minister Roman Andarak stated that Ukraine guarantees oil transit for non-sanctioned companies and is prepared to resolve transit issues with Slovakia under a European Union association agreement. This follows Slovakia's threat to halt diesel supplies in response to Ukraine's sanctions against Russia's Lukoil.

Deputy Ukrainian Energy Minister Roman Andarak affirmed Ukraine's commitment to guaranteeing uninterrupted oil transit for companies not subject to sanctions. Andarak emphasized readiness to tackle transit issues with Slovakia as per the EU association agreement.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico threatened to halt diesel supplies to Ukraine unless Kyiv restores oil flows from Russia's Lukoil, which was sanctioned and banned from operating in Ukraine. The sanctions led to the stoppage of Lukoil's oil to Slovak and Hungarian refineries.

Andarak noted that other Russian oil deliveries through Ukraine remain unaffected, reiterating Ukraine's reliability in oil transit services for the EU. He also mentioned that Slovakia and Hungary's combined 10% share in diesel supplies to Ukraine could be sourced from elsewhere.
