On Wednesday, European shares surged by 1%, lifted by a host of positive corporate updates. Notably, Dutch chip equipment manufacturer ASML led the gains after reports emerged of its exemption from a new U.S. rule regarding foreign chip equipment exports.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index hit a two-week high of 519.42 points as of 0821 GMT. The index has risen 1.5% this month. ASML shares jumped 6% following the news, while the tech sector overall advanced by 2.7%. Additionally, the aerospace sector saw a 1% increase, with Airbus climbing 4% on unveiling its second-quarter results.
In other significant movements, France's benchmark CAC 40 Index saw a 1% rise as July inflation data showed an acceleration to 2.6%, though still below forecasts. Markets keenly await the eurozone's flash inflation data due at 0900 GMT, which will guide expectations for the European Central Bank's policy moves.
