Over 10,000 Positions Vacant in BSF: MoS Home Nityanand Rai Reports
Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, announced that 10,145 positions are vacant in the Border Security Force (BSF) as of July 1. He also highlighted new post creation and recruitment efforts, including special provisions for ex-Agniveers in BSF recruitment procedures.

A staggering 10,145 vacancies exist in the Border Security Force (BSF) as of July 1 this year, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
According to Rai, the vacancies span various ranks with 387 for Gazetted Officers (Group 'A'), 1,816 for Subordinate Officers (Group 'B'), and 7,942 for Other Ranks (Group 'C').
Further, Rai disclosed that 7,372 new posts were created in the BSF in the past five years from 2020 to 2024, while 54,760 personnel have been recruited during the same period. The sanctioned strength of the BSF is 2,65,808 against the current strength of 2,55,663.
