Record 7 Crore Income Tax Returns Filed by Deadline

By 7 pm on the last day for filing income tax returns for the fiscal year 2023-24, over 7 crore returns had been filed. The Income Tax Department provided round-the-clock support for taxpayers through various channels, including calls and live chats.

As of 7 pm on the final day for submitting income tax returns for earnings in the 2023-24 fiscal year, more than 7 crore ITRs had been filed. The Income Tax Department made the announcement through social media.

On July 31 alone, over 64.33 lakh ITRs were filed, bringing the total number for the assessment year 2023-24 to over 6.77 crore. The department highlighted that more than 50 lakh ITRs were submitted on the last day before 7 pm.

The I-T department has provided extensive assistance to taxpayers, operating a helpdesk round-the-clock and offering support via calls, live chats, WebEx sessions, and social media platforms.
