Amit Shah Assures Central Help Following Devastating Cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh
Union Home Minister Amit Shah contacted Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu after a cloudburst in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu. With over 50 people missing, rescue operations are ongoing with central assistance and NDRF support.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to assess the situation in the state after a devastating cloudburst wreaked havoc in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu districts. Shah assured the Chief Minister of central assistance and the deployment of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Chief Minister Sukhu convened a meeting with officials to intensify search and rescue operations, as more than 50 individuals remained unaccounted for and two deceased had been recovered. Heavy rainfall is forecasted in the next 36 hours, as reported by the state administration. Sukhu also conveyed his grief on social media, noting the extensive relief operations underway.
Additionally, the water level in the Beas River has risen significantly, leading to the opening of the Pandoh Dam's gates. Mandi police confirmed that two houses were completely destroyed and one partially damaged in the cloudburst. State LoP Jairam Thakur emphasized the need for better disaster preparedness, while affirming that NDRF teams are actively engaged in rescue efforts.
