The Indian Youth Congress has initiated a fresh election process by dissolving its previous executive committee and launching a new membership drive. This significant revamp aims to bring in new talent and ensure active participation from all corners of the organization.
Addressing the media in a recent press conference, Himachal Youth Congress in-charge Vineet Kamboj, Election Commissioner Sajid Tariq, PRO Uday Gurjar, and Co-in-charge Yogesh Handa outlined the schedule and guidelines for the elections. The membership drive will continue until August 3, 2024, with the nomination period set to begin on August 5 and end on August 14, 2024. During this window, objections can be raised from August 6 to August 15, 2024. The scrutiny of the nominations will take place between August 15 and August 19, with the final list slated for release on August 20, 2024.
Emphasizing a fair and transparent process, Sajid Tariq noted the deployment of PROs from various states to ensure smooth operations. Vineet Kamboj highlighted that the election would specifically reserve seats in Shimla and Solan districts for SC and ST communities. Membership is open statewide, with eligibility tied to voter ID possession. Performers, particularly those aiding in disaster relief and other commendable activities, will be prioritized in the election list. The entire process, facilitated through the IYC app, is expected to be completed within two to two-and-a-half months.
