Daljit Singh Chawdhary, currently the Director General of Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB), has taken over the additional charge as Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), according to a statement released on Saturday.
Chawdhary is a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Police Service from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Over his 34-year career, he has held multiple positions in Uttar Pradesh and has been on Central Deputation since 2017, serving as Additional Director General in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Special Director General in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). As of January 23, 2024, Chawdhary has been serving as the DG of SSB.
In addition to his administrative acumen, Chawdhary is noted for his skills as a marksman and a qualified skydiver. His commendable service has earned him four police medals for gallantry, the police medal for meritorious service, the President's police medal for distinguished service, and the Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal, as per the release.
