Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) on Monday announced that it has successfully raised Rs 8,373.10 crore through a qualified institutions placement (QIP) route. The funds will be allocated towards building capacity for the evacuation of electricity from renewable sources.

This is the company's first equity raise in the capital markets since its demerger from Adani Enterprises Limited in July 2015, according to an exchange filing. The transaction, which launched post-market hours on July 30, initially had a base deal size of Rs 5,861 crore (USD 700 million) and included a green shoe option, ultimately raising the total issue size to USD 1 billion due to overwhelming demand.

Kandarp Patel, Chief Executive Officer of AESL, noted that the strong interest from institutional investors reflects their commitment to India's energy transition. The proceeds will be utilized to build bulk evacuation corridors for renewable power, enhance energy efficiency, improve network planning, make debt repayments, and strengthen overall corporate activities.
