Naidu Sets Development Milestones at Maiden Collectors Conference

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday addressed district collectors at the Secretariat, emphasizing the start of state development efforts, urging interaction with the public, and outlining ambitious irrigation and poverty alleviation plans. He also called for countering misinformation and utilizing technology for effective governance.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu proclaimed the initiation of state development during a meeting with District Collectors at the Secretariat on Monday. He noted that this session should signify the beginning of the state's growth, a shift from the previous government’s inefficiencies.

Naidu, in his first collectors conference since assuming office, directed officials to engage with citizens monthly through the 'Pedala Sevalo' program. He announced the release of a vision document for state development on October 2 and criticized past governance for rendering the state ineffective. Naidu expressed a goal of restoring the state's reputation.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of ground-level visits by IAS officers and called for responsive governance centered on human concerns. He emphasized the need to heed local ministers and MLAs' advice and counter misinformation via social media. Naidu projected that the decisions made at the conference will pave the way for the state to become India's third largest economy by 2029.

He highlighted the impact of the NDA government’s electoral victory and outlined various challenges including financial issues and the lack of previous district collectors' conferences. Advocating for innovative thinking, Naidu urged measures for poverty alleviation and efficient water management with an emphasis on interlinking rivers and filling reservoirs.

Naidu directed district collectors to devise action plans ensuring optimal water usage for irrigation and drinking purposes. He emphasized coordinating with agriculture officials to promote high-yield, low-water crops and suggested monitoring irrigation projects using drones for effective oversight.
