Telangana's Third Crop Loan Waiver Phase Set for Independence Day Announcement

Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced that the third phase of the crop loan waiver, targeting loans up to Rs two lakh, will be implemented on Independence Day. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to make the formal announcement in Khammam district, marking ongoing support for farmers as previously promised by the ruling Congress.

Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Tuesday revealed that the third and final phase of the crop loan waiver will be implemented on Independence Day.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is slated to publicly announce the Rs two lakh loan waiver during an event in Khammam district on August 15. The announcement coincides with the release of Godavari river waters to the district.

The ruling Congress had initially waived loans up to Rs one lakh starting July 18, allocating Rs 6,098 crores. The second phase, covering loans up to Rs 1.50 lakh, commenced on July 15 with Rs 6,198 crore in outlay. Despite criticism from the opposition BRS, the agriculture minister stressed that the government's loan waiver process is ongoing and aims to benefit maximum farmers.
