DERC Introduces Compensation Regulations for Electrical Accident Victims

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has announced the DERC (Compensation to Victims of Electrical Accidents) Regulations, 2024, marking a first in offering structured financial assistance for victims of electrical mishaps.
The new regulations detail a range of compensations, including Rs 7.5 lakh for loss of life and Rs five lakh for individuals with over 60 percent disability from such accidents. Lesser degrees of injury also carry specified compensatory amounts.
Additionally, the regulations cover compensation for loss of livestock and poultry, stipulating various amounts depending on the animal type. Enforcement of these regulations began on July 25, following publication in the official gazette.
