Haryana Increases Commission for 'Arthiyas' on Paddy Crops

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that commission agents, known as 'arthiyas', will receive a 20% increase in their commission on the paddy crop. The new rate is Rs 55 per quintal, up from Rs 45.88. The government will also compensate 'arthiyas' with Rs 12 crore for losses due to wheat shortages and extend rice delivery deadlines.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday announced a 20 per cent increase in commission for 'arthiyas' (commission agents) on paddy crops.

The revised commission rate is now Rs 55 per quintal, up from Rs 45.88, making it the highest in any state, according to Saini.

The government will provide Rs 12 crore in compensation to 'arthiyas' for losses incurred due to wheat shortages, addressing a long-standing issue highlighted during a meeting with representatives from the Haryana State Grain Market Arthiya Association and Haryana Rice Millers and Dealers Association.

To address logistical challenges, the rice delivery deadline to the Food Corporation of India for 2023-24 has been extended from June 30 to August 31, with a request for central government approval pending.
