In a press conference held in New Delhi, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat announced the third edition of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. This initiative, part of the Independence Day celebrations, will take place from August 9-15, as stated by the Ministry of Culture.
Shekhawat explained that the campaign aims to instill patriotism and national pride by encouraging citizens to hoist the national flag, the Tiranga, at their homes. He also urged citizens to click selfies with the flag and share them to foster a sense of unity and pride.
This year's campaign is expected to build on its success from previous years. In 2022, more than 23 crore homes participated, and over 6 crore selfies were uploaded. In 2023, over 10 crore selfies have already been uploaded. Industry partners and self-help groups are playing crucial roles in production and promotion, ensuring the wide availability of flags. Additionally, a special Tiranga bike rally featuring Members of Parliament will be held in Delhi on August 13.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasized the importance of the campaign in his 'Mann Ki Baat' episode on July 28, urging citizens to hoist the Tiranga at their homes to commemorate Independence Day.
