Union Minister and BJP president JP Nadda, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, flagged off the 'Tiranga Yatra' in Rajkot on Saturday, ahead of Independence Day. Addressing a gathering, Nadda remarked on Gujarat's significant role in India's independence movement, noting the presence of the tricolour during the yatra.
Discussing Mahatma Gandhi's contributions to the freedom struggle, Nadda emphasized, "The nation can never forget the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, who played a pivotal role in achieving independence. We are proud of Gandhi's connection to this state." He also acknowledged Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's efforts in uniting India's princely states.
Nadda expressed pride in Prime Minister Modi's connection to Gujarat, lauding his vision for a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India). The BJP's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign urges citizens to hoist the tricolour on homes, shops, and offices. Prime Minister Modi has encouraged participation in the campaign, especially noting the trend of sharing selfies with the flag on social media.
