PM Modi to Launch 109 High-Yield, Climate-Resilient Crop Varieties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil 109 high-yielding, climate-resilient, and biofortified crop varieties at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute this Sunday, according to an official statement.
The prime minister will engage with farmers and scientists during the event. The new crop varieties encompass 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops, marking a significant step in promoting sustainable farming practices.
Among the field crops, the released seeds will cover cereals, millets, forage crops, oilseeds, pulses, sugarcane, cotton, and fibers. Horticultural releases include fruits, vegetables, plantation crops, tubers, spices, flowers, and medicinal crops. Modi has emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture and biofortified crops in government programs to address malnutrition and enhance farmers' income.
