Godrej Agrovet to Boost Oil Palm Processing in Tripura with New Mill
Godrej Agrovet (GAVL) announced plans to establish an Oil Palm Processing mill in Tripura's Dhalai district by 2026, with an initial capacity of 10 tph. The company aims to support oil palm farmers by expanding nursery capacity, setting up a research center, and creating a comprehensive ecosystem for the state's agricultural sector.
Godrej Agrovet (GAVL) has unveiled plans to establish a new Oil Palm Processing mill in Dhalai district, Tripura, scheduled for completion by 2026. The mill, initially operating at a capacity of 10 tonnes per hour (tph), is a significant investment in the region's agricultural infrastructure.
The project is part of GAVL's broader strategy to enhance its Oil Palm Plantation business (OPP). This includes expanding its existing nursery in Dhalai from 3 lakh to 5 lakh saplings annually and opening a Research & Development center dedicated to Oil Palm. Additionally, GAVL will introduce a Samadhan centre to provide extensive support to oil palm farmers.
''This initiative aligns with the National Mission on Edible Oil - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP),'' a company spokesperson noted, emphasizing GAVL's commitment to creating a beneficial ecosystem for local farmers. Tripura's Agriculture Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, echoed this sentiment, thanking GAVL for their role in uplifting the state's oil palm sector. GAVL Managing Director Balram Singh Yadav highlighted the project's potential for job creation and business development within the value chain.
