2.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Bidar, No Panic Needed

A mild earthquake of 2.6 magnitude hit Bidar, Karnataka with its epicenter near Sitalgera GP. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre assured the public that there were no significant structural risks.

A minor earthquake measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale shook Bidar in Karnataka on Saturday evening. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported the epicenter to be 3.5 kilometers southwest of Sitalgera GP in the Humnabad Taluk, Bidar district.

Based on the Seismic Intensity map, the quake's intensity was low, with tremors possibly felt up to 30-40 kilometers from the epicenter. Bidar falls in Seismic Zone II, an area with a very low likelihood of earthquake damage. KSNDMC confirmed that the epicenter lacks any significant structural discontinuities, according to the Tectonic map.

Authorities reassured the community that the quake's low intensity poses no cause for alarm or panic, emphasizing that the event was non-destructive. (ANI)
