Incessant Rainfall Causes Widespread Waterlogging in Delhi and Other Regions

Delhi and various regions, including Ambala, faced severe waterlogging after incessant rainfall, causing disruption for commuters. The India Meteorological Department predicted continued moderate to heavy rainfall across parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh till mid-August.

After a spell of incessant rainfall in Delhi, several areas faced waterlogging on Sunday. Visuals from Najafgarh in West Delhi showed severe waterlogging, exacerbating the situation for commuters.

In Rohini Sector 23, people were seen playing and working out amidst the downpour as rain lashed parts of the national capital. Earlier, heavy rainfall was reported in Ambala city, disrupting normal life and causing significant waterlogging.

Commuters struggled through water-logged roads as heavy rains hit several parts of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted thunderstorms and lightning with moderate rain over parts of Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, and Panchkula.

IMD Chandigarh posted an alert on X, stating, "Thunderstorm/Lightning with Moderate Rain very likely over parts of Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Panchkula." IMD's Regional Centre in New Delhi also predicted moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across multiple regions in Haryana.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, New Delhi posted, "Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by moderate thunderstorms and lightning is very likely to occur at Rajaund, Assandh, Jind, Gohana, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar (Haryana), Kotputli, Alwar, Viratnagar (Rajasthan)." According to IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Haryana until August 14.

The IMD press release highlighted that fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and East Uttar Pradesh from August 10 to 16; Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, West Uttar Pradesh from August 10-11 and 14-16; and Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh on August 10-11 and 14th.
