Assam Government Signs MoU to Produce Documentary on Veer Lachit Borphukan

In a move designed to honor and spread the valor, dedication, and patriotism of Veer Lachit Borphukan on the global stage, the Assam Government's Department of Cultural Affairs has signed an MoU with Prasar Bharati to produce a 52-episode documentary. The agreement was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati on Monday.
The MoU was inked by Meenakshi Das, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, and Amit Kumar, DDG of Doordarshan. Chief Minister Dr. Sarma commented that the documentary would elevate the legendary Ahom general to a larger audience and will display Assam's rich historical and cultural tapestry to a modern-day audience. He praised the project as a tribute to Borphukan's unmatched dedication to his motherland and its territorial integrity.
Dr. Sarma labeled the day as 'historic' and stressed that the documentary would not only enhance Ahom history on a global scale but also serve as an inspiration for future generations. He emphasized the importance of accurately reflecting the state's unique culture, costumes, and historical heritage in the documentary. Additionally, Dr. Sarma announced plans to create a high-quality, three-hour film on Lachit Borphukan.
The event was attended by Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora, Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, Principal Secretary of Cultural Affairs B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, DG Prasar Bharati Kanchan Prasad, and other dignitaries.
