On Tuesday, Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a 29-year-old man at Kalyan railway station for allegedly murdering his friend over a dispute regarding a Rs 30 auto-rickshaw fare. The suspect has been identified as Saif Zahid Ali while the victim was Chakkan Ali, both hailing from Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh.
The altercation took a violent turn in Mumbai's Kurla area, resulting in the death of Chakkan Ali. After the incident, Saif Zahid Ali was apprehended and handed over to Kurla Police for further investigation, according to the Crime Branch.
In another case, Mumbai Police arrested a man linked to a brutal murder inside a spa in Worli, and six people were detained for a fatal fight stemming from an old rivalry in Chembur. Both events highlight the disturbing trend of violent crimes in the city.
