AAP Applauds LG's Decision to Nominate Gahlot for Flag Hoisting

AAP lauds Delhi LG's decision to have Home Minister Kailash Gahlot hoist the national flag on August 15, calling it a democratic move. CM Kejriwal, currently imprisoned, had earlier requested Minister Atishi for the role. PM Modi will lead the celebrations from Red Fort.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday expressed approval of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena's decision to nominate Delhi Home Minister Kailash Gahlot to hoist the national flag on August 15th at the Chhatrasal Stadium event. “This move honours the principle of democracy,” the party stated.

In a statement, AAP said, "We welcome the decision to have Delhi's Home Minister, Kailash Gahlot, hoist the national flag on August 15. This move honours the principle of democracy by choosing an elected representative over an appointed one, reinforcing the importance of the people's mandate in our governance.”

Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena's nomination of Gahlot follows a request from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently in jail, who had asked for Minister Atishi to hoist the flag. India will commemorate its 78th Independence Day on August 15, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to lead celebrations from the iconic Red Fort in Delhi, where he will unfurl the National Flag and deliver the customary address.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that services will begin at 4 am on August 15 to facilitate public attendance at the Independence Day ceremony. Metro services will run at a frequency of 15 minutes until 6 am, after which regular schedules will resume. Special exit arrangements will be implemented at Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk stations.
