Union Minister Dr Mandaviya Launches Online Facility for EPF Exemption Surrender

Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya launched an online facility for surrendering EPF exemptions, aimed at easing processes and enhancing member benefits. The system is part of the EPFO Central IT System 2.01 initiative to improve efficiency and transparency.

In a significant move, Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, launched a new online facility for the surrender of exemption from the EPF Scheme in New Delhi on Tuesday. This facility marks the first module under the EPFO Central IT System 2.01, anticipating future broad-scale implementations.

Dr Mandaviya highlighted that the new online system will ease the submission and validation process of applications, providing an efficient method for members to transfer past accumulations. The facility replaces the earlier cumbersome physical submission process, introducing a tracking ID for establishments to monitor their applications. This move is expected to benefit around one lakh members across 70 establishments, facilitating the transfer of approximately Rs 1000 crores.

Further elaborating his vision, Dr Mandaviya stressed the EPFO's commitment to simplifying processes and ensuring timely delivery of IT systems throughout the year. He reviewed ongoing IT interventions, including the seamless implementation of the new EPFO Central IT System 2.01 and the future rollout of the Integrated Grievance Management System. He directed the incorporation of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to enhance EPFO's IT infrastructure. Notably, over the past two years, 27 companies have surrendered their EPF exemptions, adding Rs 1688.82 crores and 30,000 employees, demonstrating growing confidence in EPFO's services.
