Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute on Wednesday to Captain Deepak Singh, who was killed during an encounter with terrorists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. Dhami remarked that Captain Singh's sacrifice would ignite patriotism among the youth. He prayed for strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.
According to defence officials, Captain Singh, part of the 48 Rashtriya Rifles, was killed during an ongoing operation in Assar, Doda. The operation, initiated on Tuesday by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, is still ongoing. One terrorist was neutralized, with several firearms recovered.
The Indian Army extended its deepest condolences to Captain Singh's family. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a crucial meeting addressing the spike in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, which was attended by top security officials. Jammu has seen a surge in attacks, with 28 fatalities reported in 11 terror-related incidents this year.
