Delhi Gears Up for Winter with Robust Action Plan to Combat Pollution

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai met with officials to draft a winter action plan against pollution. The plan includes 14 focus points such as vehicular pollution, dust control, and stubble burning. A joint meeting with 33 departments will be held on September 5 to finalize actions.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai convened a high-level meeting on Friday with the Environment Department and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to formulate a winter action plan aimed at combating the city’s notorious air pollution.

The minister highlighted that the initiative is founded on 14 critical focus points, addressing issues from vehicular and dust pollution to the burning of stubble and garbage. A joint meeting with 33 departments has been scheduled for September 5 to solidify the collaborative strategy.

The action plan covers areas such as industrial pollution, the enhancement of the Green War Room and Green Delhi App, real-time pollution detection studies, and increasing green spaces. Efforts will also include curbing firecracker bursts, engaging with the central government and neighboring states, and executing the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
