Amid calls for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation, BJP MP Raju Bista criticized the TMC leader's protest in Kolkata over the rape and murder of a trainee student at RG Kar Medical College, calling it 'mere drama.' Bista described her actions as 'laughable'.
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh echoed similar sentiments. 'Mamata Banerjee is doing 'dramabaazi' in Bengal like a film script,' Chugh stated, urging Banerjee to focus on women's safety instead of staging protests. Friday saw BJP leader Anil K Antony demanding Banerjee's resignation, citing high instances of violence against women in the state.
Contrarily, Mamata Banerjee accused the CPIM and BJP of orchestrating the incident. At a rally, she urged the CBI to expedite the investigation, condemning both parties for their alleged hypocrisy. Banerjee questioned the protection of women in BJP-ruled states, highlighting recent atrocities and demanding accountability.
