Calcutta High Court Advocates Demand Justice for Murdered Junior Doctor

Advocates of the Calcutta High Court held a protest march on Monday, demanding justice for a junior lady doctor who was raped and murdered. The march featured banners seeking justice for the victim.
Participating advocate Mousami Choudhry stated, "We want justice. The accused must be arrested and punished immediately." Advocate Navneet Mishra echoed these sentiments, urging speedy apprehension and punishment of the perpetrator. He also called on the administrator to ensure swift action, with CBI's multi-faceted investigation ongoing.
On Sunday, 'Loud and Clear,' a women's voluntary organization, led a torchlight protest in Siliguri, North Bengal, condemning the incident at RG Kar Medical College. Protestors expressed their demand for stringent punishment and greater security for women. Expressing concerns, a protestor said, "We have faith in the system but demand justice." Another added, "As a mother, I fear for my daughter's safety. This violence must stop."
The CBI's investigation is making progress, employing advanced techniques like 3D laser mapping of the crime scene and psychological evaluations of suspects. A CBI psychologist arrived in Kolkata to assist.
The Supreme Court of India, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, is set to hear the case on August 20. Following the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor on duty at RG Kar Medical College on August 9, national protests from civil societies and medical professionals have erupted, demanding severe punishment for the accused and improved safety and security measures.
