CPI(M) Slams Mamata Banerjee's Government Over Junior Doctor's Rape and Murder Case

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat criticized the Mamata Banerjee government, alleging a lack of credibility in handling the rape and murder case of a junior doctor in Kolkata. Other political figures and the governor echoed concerns about women's safety in West Bengal, calling for urgent action and transparency.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat has declared that the credibility of Mamata Banerjee's government is zero concerning the rape and murder case of a junior doctor at R G Kar Medical College in Kolkata. Karat alleged that the Chief Minister is trying to protect herself by obscuring the role of the accused.

In an interview with ANI, Karat criticized the summoning of TMC MP Sukhendu Shekar Ray by Kolkata Police. 'The Rajya Sabha MP was attempting to play a sensitive role in this case, and he was summoned by the police,' Karat stated.

Meanwhile, TMC MP Sukhendu Shekar Ray expressed doubts about Kolkata Police's investigation, suggesting the involvement of the CBI. He raised several pressing questions, including why certain steps were delayed and who was behind spreading misinformation about the case.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari slammed the state government for not ensuring women's safety. 'It is shameful that the government acknowledges the lack of nighttime safety for women,' Adhikari remarked, criticizing the contradictory stance on women's empowerment.

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose also commented, stating that Bengal has failed its women under the current government's watch. He emphasized the urgent need to restore the state to a place where women can live without fear.

This disturbing case, in which a postgraduate trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered on August 9, has sparked nationwide outrage and protests among the medical community.
